Pursuant to Article 32 and Article 33 of the Statute of the Independent Trade Union of Journalists and Media Workers, at the session held on 15.12.2014, the Executive Board adopted the following
RULES FOR PAYMENT OF
TRADE UNION MEMBERSHIP FEES
of the Independent Trade Union of Journalists and Media Workers
The SSNM operation is financed by membership fees which members pay monthly to the trade union bank account. SSNM can also be financed by other legitimate sources as long as they do not interfere with the independence of the trade union.
The amount of the membership fee is 150 denars per month or 1800 denars per year for employed members.
The amount of the membership fee is 80 denars per month or 960 denars per year for members who are not employed but are engaged under other forms of employment contracts (free-lancers, part-time associates, etc.).
Unemployed journalists and media associates without permanent employment engagement and income, including pensioners, pay a solidarity fee in the amount of 50 denars per month.
The already existing trade union organizations are entitled to maintain the current manner of payment of membership fees, but are obligated to pay SSNM the established amount of 150 denars per member. The organization is free to use the remaining funds as they might deem appropriate.
SSNM members on maternity or sick leave are exempt from paying the membership fee.
When the situation demands it, SSNM may grant a member`s request for exemption of payment for a limited time, but for no longer than 6 months, during which time the member will continue to enjoy his/her rights under the Statute. In all other cases, failure to pay the membership fee for longer than three months will result in terminating the membership status in accordance with the Statute.
The membership fee can be paid in one of the following ways:
- Attachment of salary;
2. Annual membership fee paid to the SSNM bank account;
3. Standing order, if possible.
These Rules may be amended as needed and required.
